May 2019 Meeting

For the May meeting Jan was in Tuscany on vacation (lucky duck!) so Jessica lead the meeting. There were no announcements other than that the Moda rep will be out next month instead of this meeting.

We collected the April BOMs. I love how cute and scrappy they are! 😍

Jessica presented May BOM which is the Duck Walk Block. The instructions are listed on the BOM blog post here.

Our new member Margaret started off Show and Tell with this sweet nautical themed baby quilt she made for a friend's grandchild.

Susanne made this wall hanging for above her bed and named it "absent minded bowties".

She also created this fidget quilt that we talked about making for charity at the beginning of the year.

Toni told us about a half square triangle exchange she joined last year in where she collected these smaller border squares. Her husband helped her pick out the green fabrics to create bigger blocks to go with them to make the quilt bigger. What a great helper!

And then she created this table topper with the scraps leftover from the big quilt.

Lori brought in her simple but elegant gray half square triangle quilt top she made to go in her house.

Jessica was working on her UFOs so she picked up some blocks she started on a few years ago for our solids challenge and put together this quilt top.

Jessica also shared a Nuno panel she purchased at Needle in a Fabric Stash and is using the sashiko method to stitch on the lines to be made into pillows. (not pictured)

After Show and Tell we played the game Left Right Center and the prizes were generously provided by Drew from Primitive Gatherings.

My 8 year old daughter and fellow quilter won! Looks like we'll have lots of sewing to do over the upcoming summer break!

We ended our meeting with our monthly raffle. Madelynn won the Moda Jen Kingwell charm pack and storage cup, Margaret won the $25 gift card for Primitive Gatherings, and Lori won the Sew Hometown pattern calendar.

Don't forget to join us next month to hear a presentation for Moda Fabrics!
