After Jan's announcements (which will be touched upon at the end of this post), she collected the November BOMs.
The December BOM is the Christmas Star by Threadbare Creations. Thanks again to Rose Johnston of Threadbare Creations who allowed us to use her block for this month's Block of the Month. :) For directions on how to create this block, click here.
After I presented the BOM I did a little demo on paper piecing to help those who've never done it see how to create this star block. I was able to get through half of a smaller sized block, which I will be making into a mug rug for home. :)
After my demo, Jan started our Show and Tell by bringing out her quilt she made with fabric she bought in Norway. It's bound and beautiful! :)
She also brought in her quilt from last month which was quilted by Nancy and is also now bound.
She also making a scrap quilt from the scraps leftover when making the BOMs. Every time she makes a block for the guild, she also makes one for herself. What a great idea!
Nancy recently went to a quilt retreat in North Dakota. She took with her this quilt kit she had bought from QuiltCon and was able to piece together the entire quilt top. It will be a Christmas gift for her husband.
And here's the back view to see all that piecing. What a view!
Taylor showed us her charity quilt she free motion quilted on her domestic machine. Great job, Taylor!
Sue took her son's military shirts and made him this one of a kind stocking.
Linda's daughter saw her Dream Big panel from Hoffman Fabrics and wanted a quilt out of it so Linda is surprising her for her birthday.
She also brought in this quilt she started a while ago. Shed took half of a quilt top and added borders.
We ended the meeting with our monthly raffle. Here were the raffle winners:
Jessica won The Men Behind the Quilts Calendar, Madelynn won the Primitive Gatherings Gift card, and Nancy won the Timeless Treasures Charm pack.
Our next meeting will be our Christmas party at Primitive Gatherings! Join on us Thursday, December 20th at 6:30. We will be having a Soup Bowl Cozy exchange. For a tutorial on how to create these, click here. This year we won't be putting them in a brown bag, but instead in a cute box or gift bag. Bring snacks or dessert to share and 3 FQs for the fat quarter game (any color or print). We will be presenting the January BOM, have show and tell and will play a game or ice breaker. Also, don't forget to bring your dues at this time, by our January meeting at the latest. Happy sewing and we hope to see you all there! :)
