December 2017 Meeting and Christmas Party

What a wonderful final meeting of the year this was! Everyone came in with goodies to share and brown paper bags filled with gifts for our exchange.

Jan started our meeting by greeting everyone and mentioning that the Ventura Modern Quilt Guild is collecting blocks, completed quilts and pillow cases for the Thomas Fire. If anyone would like to help, they can bring any donated items in next month and Jan will bring them in. She then gave gifts of these cute little Block & Pattern-A-Day desk calendars to the board members. I was so excited as I've always wanted one of these for my sewing space. :)

Next, Maritza shared her paper pieced BOM for January. It's Block 5 of Year of Scrappy Triangles (all details on blog here.)

Maritza started Show and Tell by showing us her QuiltCon entry that wasn't accepted. It is her own design she called Modern Log Cabins.

Patti made this fun quilt top from a house pattern in Simply Modern Magazine, but added the gray to make roads.

Nancy made Patricia, Wendy and Sherri each a Chatelaine for holding sewing accessories, a box pouch and envelope pouch as Christmas gifts. And she had each of them model them for us. :)

Colleen and Susan finished our QuiltCon charity quilt top that morning! Nancy will be quilting it for us, just in time for QuiltCon 2018 in Pasadena. Great job to all of those who helped!

Susan's family is huge on stockings for Christmas so she made her new son in law Tommy a Koi fish stocking (since he loves Koi fish).

Jan brought in this adorable "little forest" wall hanging she made 6 years ago.

After Show and Tell, Jessica started an Ice Breaker called "10 Word Memoir" where we each told the group about ourselves in 10 words. It was a fun exercise in getting to know each other even more.

Then we had our mug rug and mug swap. Here are all of the happy recipients!

And here they are up close. It's always fun to see all of the different personalities in our guild in these exchanges.

The night ended with a red themed fat quarter game. Patti and Nancy each won at their table.
Look at those winnings!

From all of us at the Temecula Valley Quilt Guild, we'd like to wish you all the Happiest of Holidays to you and yours.
