February 2017 Meeting

This was the fastest meeting on record!  Our guest speaker canceled on us, the morning of the meeting.  So we did our business, shared our work and went home!

First, there was a commercial message from the MQG:
There are brand-new entertainment discounts available for all members — including on things like movie tickets, theme parks, resorts and more, check them out at community.themodernquiltguild.com, under resources.

If you didn’t get fabric for the Riley Blake Rockstar Fabric Challenge, you can still participate. You can purchase the fabric, make something quilted and enter. The deadline for submissions is April 30th.  We had a donated FQ bundle to raffle off, that was a success, and Jane was the winner!

The quilts for the Solids Challenge are due at the March meeting. Due to popular demand, the deadline moved to the May meeting.  There were several sighs of relief.

Susan has the sign-up list for the BOM. You don’t need to be on our Board to do this. You do need to co-ordinate with Angelica or me so that we can get a blog post about your block prepared.

Jessica presented the BOM Charity block for March, you can find the info here.

Next month our meeting is on March 16th. How about bringing the “oldest” quilt you made? Or the oldest one that you still own.

The next Board meeting is March 2nd at Panera in Murrieta at 6:30.

Now for my favorite part of all our meetings, Show and Tell.  I did miss some photos, and I'm sorry.

Natalie made this mini-quilt for the MQG Mini-Quilt swap.

Tayor made this great bag.  She started with a pattern, then just improvised.

Linda showed off her Two Fabric Applique quilt.  So fabulous!

Madeline is modeling a bag made by Susan.  Susan was excited by the Rainbow Tote that Angelica made and showed at the last meeting.

Here's Susan with her scrappy improv quilt.

This wonderful String Quilt is also by Susan.  Talk about a busy woman!

Angelina explained that she had missed a couple of meetings because she delivered a 9 lb. baby girl!  She also managed to make this great hexi quilt for her new baby.  She was busy!

These are all the heart blocks for February, that were donated to our BOM Charity Quilt Project.  I can't wait to see all the 4-Leaf Clover blocks in March.  If you missed the meeting bring your heart blocks along with the March blocks to the March meeting.
